Hard resetting your phone is like reinstalling windows on your computer, and chosing to format your windows partition. It will wipe out all data of your phone, your messages, your contacts, pictures, xls data, everything. Except what’s on your memory card.
So before you hard reset your phone, backup your data. Some tips :
1. Backup your phone with PIM backup (messages, contacts, …)
2. copy your pictures etc either to your computer, or to your memory card
3. If possible, sync mail, tasks, calender, contacts with either your exchange server, or outlook, or …
To quote pda4x.com :
1. With your phone on. Pull out your stylus.
2. Hold your Touch Pro upside down.
3. Press and Hold the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the RESET button with the stylus tip till message appear
4. To HARD RESET, Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or else press any other button to cancel.
5. Then just follow all the screen instruction to continue…

before you flash or hard reset your device, you might want to backup your T9 custom words. They are saved in eT9Rudb.Rdb in the windows folder. There is also eT9MyWord.exe in the windows folder, allowing you to edit, change, delete, … the custom words.

Want to know which Hard disks have been that with that popcorn hour ?
for the A110 check here
I couldn’t find a list like that for the A100, but all ATA 100 drives should work on the A100. Users did report problems with the Western Digital DC500 models.
Please note that the big difference between the A100 and A110 is, that the A100 takes IDE drives, the A110 takes SATA drives.

- select add a device
- device type = MediaCenter PC
- don’t start scrolling in the Manufacturer list, MediaTank or Popcorn Hour isn’t in it
- select “not listed”
- The wizard will ask you the Manufacturer name, enter PopCorn Hour
- in model type your model (like A-100 or A-110)
- then select popcorn hour A100
- success
edit, just found that you could also use Syabas as the manufacturer Name.

There are multiple ways to resize or enlarge a disk in Vmware ESX.
One way would be by using the vmware converter. Easy! This enlarges your disk both on the ESX as on Windows.
If you’re using ESX 3.5, you can resize the disk using the VI client, while the VM is online! After this, you still have to resize the disk in Windows. (or *nix.)
If you’re using a previous version of ESX, you can resize the disk with this command.
- vmkfstools –X 20000M /vmfs/volumes/volumename/machinename/xxx.vmdk
where 20000M is the new size, not the amount you’re adding!
After this you still have to resize the volume by using a disk management / partition utility. You could also boot with Bartpe and use diskpart, or add the disk to another VM, and run diskpart from there.
- diskpart
- list volume
- select volume X (x being the volume)
- extend
However you cannot resize the active boot volume. In this case, boot with a BartPE cd of add the disk to another machine).
Another way is to resize the disk with vmkfstools, as described above, and then resize the disk in windows using extpart (tool from dell). works on VM’s http://ftp.dell.com/app/ExtPart.exe
Another solution, would be to resize the disk with vmkfstools, and then resize the disk with Gparted. You can download a bootcd here : http://gparted.sourceforge.net/
Doesn’t matter how you do it, just always take a good backup!!!!

I recently added an article on how to change the ipaddress of the service console.
But what if the service console has another name then service console?
you can get a list of all port groups by typing this command :
esxcfg-vswitch -l
Categories: vmware
Tagged: esx, service console, vmware
- On the ESXi console press alt F1
- you will see no prompt or whatever, just type unsupported
- Enter your root password
- at the prompt type vi /etc/inetd.conf
- search with pressing / for a line that starts with #ssh
- remove the #. This can be done by pressing x when you’re on the character #
- save the file by typing :wq!
- restart the server
with thanks to the great post on yellow-bricks.com

howto change an IP address, DNS server or WINS server from the command line in Windows
- netsh interface ip show config
is the same as ipconfig, shows your current configuration
- netsh interface ip set address “Local Area Connection” dhcp
this sets the adapter with name “Local Area Connection” to DHCP.
- netsh interface ip set address “Local Area Connection” static 192.168.0.5 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1 1
this changes the ip address of the adapter “Local Area Connection” to 192.168.0.5, with as subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and gateway 192.168.0.1, metric 1. Do not forget to set the metric!
- add dns “Local Area Connection” 192.168.1.22

There is a new firmware update for the PN50A550 which is the US version of the PS50A550 / PS50A556.
It’s being discussed here on AVforums:
Robert: On your website there is a new firmware listed for my pn50a550. What problems does this firmware correct?
Dylan D: I will let you know about it.
Dylan D: Let me check that for you.
Robert: ok thanks
Dylan D: Firmware update will fix intermittent red blur when watching moving pictures. It will enhance the color processing capabilities of the TV. It will fix a problem with a totally green screen when connect to certain HDMI devices. It will improve the WiseLink detection.
Dylan D: Is there anything else I can help you with Robert?
Robert: Is that all the update addresses?
Dylan D: Yes Robert. I am reading directly from the service bulletin matched to this update. Have I answered your question?
Robert: Yes, thank you.
I do hope that this update will come soon to Europe also, as the european version is still flawed with false contouring. Actually I believe both versions are flawed, guess you only notice it on PAL source material.
